KeymasterI had a rep in today from a well-known parts distributer asking how things are, I told him we are a little bit slow but just about ticking along, he said that that he has found it dead out there, saying people are really quiet and things are looking grim,
6 months ago we were booked up almost a week in advance and taking on more engineers, now we are booking next day
How are you guys finding things? To put into context we are trying to book between 70-90 calls a day.

I’m only a one man band so obviously don’t book large amounts in but it’s been hectic here since Xmas. I normally like to do 8/9 jobs a day although has been a little quieter this week

I’m just a one man band and i’ve been doing 8/9 a day, 6 days a week since Xmas. Had my first slow week last week (usually week before payday if its going to be quiet), but this week has been mad busy, booking 3 days in advance. Long may it continue.
From memory though, March/April is usually my quieter period if i’m going to have a bit of a lull.April 2, 2014 at 7:41 pm #412009SAMURI

It normally goes quiet between January and The end of April.
I have been lucky the last couple of years and been kept busy all year.
The last three weeks I have not been working to full capacity but have still been busy enough and more work than normal at this time of year.
I have spoken to a few spares reps and they are all saying in general this year spares sales are down and a lot of Repair company’s are quiet.
This may just be the reps are trying to get extra orders by playing the sympathy card.

No its unusually quiet, last week was down and this week looks set to be even worse, a lot of other repair companies and one man bands are also quiet in my area its almost as if everyone has left the place !

Glad it’s not just me quiet! We had a very busy start to 2014, everyday fully booked. Last week dropped off and this week very slow.
I’ve been self-employed for 26 years and I still can’t figure out a pattern and why you can go from a busy week to a quiet week for no obvious reason???April 13, 2014 at 6:52 pm #412012twicknix

It has been quiet for the last two weeks but then our landline phone was faulty. We just found out this afternoon!
I don’t mind quiet times as it gives me something else to do around the house or work on the caravan.
I have a nice 10 years old Hpt wm in need of new bearings. Maybe will work on it this week if it’s still quiet…

A contradiction in terms, big time! 😉
