ParticipantJust caught an Argos advert on tv. Indesit 7kg washer for £159.99. How? Doesn’t make sense. If it goes wrong in guarantee how would that be cost effective to repair? 15 years ago I got out of the self-employed /re-con game muttering to a friend in the same game that new appliances were destroying the trade.. How low can they go? I despair. And yearn for the golden days of Indesit L5’s/A3236 Hoovers and their Electron offspring, then their (logic) successors/Hotpoint 1800 and 95 series and their facelifted WM offspring.
God I’m getting old!!

You were mistaken, the cheapest Indesit 7kg is £196.99 at Argos. Mind you you can buy a nice Bush 6kg from them for £145.99. 😀

I installed a top of the range Beko integrated dishwasher for a customer yesterday which was cheaper than the repair for the existing Whirlpool (No surprises).£219.00 including delivery

I think its more about Whirlpool dumping the Indesit name and dumping the stock I feel sorry for small retailers with stock. Lost sale today because I couldn’t compete on price – looks as though we’ll be losing money on Indesit and Hotpoint appliances luckily we haven’t got many.

Fear not Reaper Whirlpool with never dump the Indesit brand name, respected throughout Britain and Europe. An name that’s been around for more than half a century producing quantity without the need for quality. The Chinese will need to lower their sights in order to get a foothold in that action. 😉

My local Argos on Wednesday had a Bosch 6kg WAE machine on display priced at £209. This offer isn’t shown online anymore, so I guess it may have been a Black Friday weekend special.

Whirlpool bought Indesit to get a foot hold into the Russian market as Indesit are quite big there and they want to take a bigger stake in the other east European countries. The UK is a very very small part of their business hence they never replaced their Uk warehouse when Paddock wood burnt down
