Ariston 1436 Washer stops on rinse – but off/on overcomes

Hi all

I have an Ariston 1436 washing machine that sticks after the wash cycle with both wash and rinse lights illuminated. The cycle can be advanced by turning the machine off and on or shaking the drum (top off machine). I have had it looked at and the diagnosis was fairly inconclusive but the symptoms above are new (as I hadn’t braved fiddling at that stage). Apparently the thermostat and pump are in good order.

Hi there – I know that this is an old thread and you’ve most likely either fixed it or replaced it by now – but I had a similar problem and it’s sounding more like worn motor brushes.
