ParticipantMy Ariston A1435 seems to have a couple of problems.
Firstly, if I select programme 8 (daily 30 mins wash) and 40 degress then it fills to a certain level, then immediately drains all the water out and gives an F7 fault code. If I repeat with the temp set to the Star setting (I assume this is cold) then the programme runs OK. So I was thinking it was some kind of temperature / heating problem – as I have seen elsewhere on the forum a F07 could relate to.
However on programme 3 (normal wash – takes about 3 hours) at 40 degrees it seems to wash as usual but then gets stuck on the wash cycle for ever and won’t move on to rinse, spin or empty – I have to manually do this. This seems more like a timer problem.
Thanks for any help.September 30, 2012 at 10:33 pm #382112iadom

The first thing to do is to test the heating element for continuity, resistance and insulation, if that is OK and there are no breaks in the wiring then it points to a pcb failure.

Hi – thanks for that,
What sort of resistance am I looking for? – I haven’t delved into taking washing machines apart before but have had some electrical experience so would like to have a go myself.

Wow! – Thanks for the quick response. I’ll have a go this evening.
Thanks again.October 1, 2012 at 7:57 pm #382116Derby_rob

Got 30 ohms across heating element and continuity. Can’t do an insulation test as haven’t got a megger.
Other than the earth terminal, what are the other terminals for (2 together) – some kind of temp sensor? – I don’t get continuity across those if that’s relevant.October 1, 2012 at 8:10 pm #382117Derby_rob

The connector on the end of the blue wire that attaches to the element and goes to the PCB is very black at the PCB.

The small device plugged into the back of the heater is the NTC or as you surmised, the temp sensor, it has a very high resistance reading which alters with changes in temperature.
At room temp it could be anything between 3000? and 2000?.
The blackened wiring connections sound like the cause of your problem, sadly due to the very poor quality of these Indesit PCB’s it may be difficult to effect a simple repair.October 1, 2012 at 8:29 pm #382119Derby_rob

Have taken the PCB out fully now, looks like dry joints on RL7 I’ll try soldering them up tomorrow and if that fails I guess it’s a new PCB or new WM.
Thanks for all your help.October 1, 2012 at 8:31 pm #382120iadom

If you are handy with a soldering iron then you could always take a chance on a new relay, Maplins etc supply them.
