I have an issue with a Ariston A1435 washing machine. I select the cycle and turn the machine on but nothing happens except after a few seconds the door locks.
The solenoids seem OK (not open circuit) and there is no voltage across the solenoids at any time (it is not trying to fill the machine with water.
With power off to the w/m I found that the pressure switch 1-2 is closed and 1-3 open; I tested the switch when the machine hangs and its state is as with no power attached. I bench tested the pressure switch and it seems to be fine.
Should the state of the pressure switch have changed?
I cleaned the pump filter etc…
I’ve had the machine 8 years and it has worked very hard. I have never changed the brushes. Therefore I’ve removed them. They are very short; less than 1 cm pertruding but other than that they look OK. Does this sound like they need to be changed?
    Thanks in advance
Could this problem possibly be the cause of my trouble?
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Worn brushes would give this exact fault. 🙂

    The Article on carbon brushes.

If the electronics think the motor’s not there, not much will happen.
