Ariston A1436 not draining

Hi guys,

Grateful for your thoughts please. Our washing machine is filling but not draining, the end result being it spews water when the seal gives way and we have to switch it off.

We have checked the easily detachable end of the drainage pipe (i.e. the one that links to the pipes rather than the one that links to the machine) and given it a clean. If we hold the pipe over a bucket it drains when the machine is switched off but it just continues to try filling when switched on – I can’t feel it trying to push water down the drainage pipe.

Any ideas please?

If you remove the plinth at the front of the machine you will find an access plug to the pump you will probably find something blocking it.
Drain as much water out as you can first though,if poss tilt machine back slightly and put a smalll dish underneath or some towels as there will be some water still in the machine.
