ParticipantHello,
The belt has slipped off of my Ariston A1600WD, I managed to get it back on but it fell off again. I didn’t notice any tensioning devices or ways to release the bottom motor. Does anyone has any experience of this make/model. I have lost the manual which doesn’t help.
Thanks,
Craig.

This is a Hotpoint based machine. There is no adjustment, the belt is a ‘stretchy’ belt. If it keeps coming off and the drum is smooth and quiet when you turn it and there are no rust marks on the chassis behind the lower back panel then you need a new belt. The manual you will have is a user manual, it is not a service manual so would be of no use whatsover in this instance.
PS. If you managed to get the old belt back on yourself that would suggest that it is too slack. A new belt would be very, very difficult to get back on without the expertise required. 😉

Thanks for your reply. How should I get the belt back on. I put it on the bottom grooved motor and half onto the drum, then turned the drum till it was full on. Did I stretch the belt in this process?

The trade secret is to use a cable tie to fix the belt onto the drum pulley, rotate the drum til the belt fits fully – then cut the cable tie off….!
Ssssssssssssh….don’t tell anyone! 😀
