ParticipantHello,
I wonder if you can help.
I have had the above washing machine for 2 .5 years and its been a bit of a pain. First it sprung a leak when it was just 4 days over a year old. I replaced the door seal and that cured it. It then blocked the filter and stopped the machine from draining.
over the last year it has been getting louder and louder when running but i’ve been putting off stripping it down and investigating the problem. Last week it decided to spill its load all over the kitchen floor so i was forced to strip it down. I assumed the leak was the door seal again so i bought a new one. With the back off the machine it is clear there is a lot of play in the main drum bearing, can anyone advise me how to change the bearing as i tried to remove the bolt but it was very tight (i guess its thread locked in)??
Anyway as we were desperate to use the machine i changed to door seal and ran it again and its still leaking??
It looks like its coming from the pump itself? when i changed the door seal I removed the black rubber pipe from the drum and cleaned it all out so there are no blockages…. is it possible for the pump to leak? is there any way to test it?
Any help appreciated.

The magnetic style pumps dont leak. You probably haven’t got the hoses re-attached correctly, or the filter has not quite gone home.
Bearings. If you use the “Search” facilty with keywords Indesit / Ariston / Bearing, you will quickly find out what you’re up against. “Bacofoil” also produces a few interesting results……….
Not many people bother TBH. It’s a complex, heavy duty job and to be honest there are far better appliances oput there for not much more money.

so basicaly im better off buying a new one?
What would you reconmend? Do i buy another cheap one and risk it being no use in 2 years time or do i bite the bullet and spend some cash?
If i fix the leak I wonder how long I can get away with it before the bearing lets go totaly?
Chees For your help

If you like livin’ on the edge each washday, then buy another Ariston. 😥
If however you want a more enduring approach to the never ending chore, buy a Bosch. And if you can afford cash to buy it, then I cannot think of a better option…? 😉
But if you are prepaired to invest that cash and do away with washday blues altogether, then get one of these: –
