ParticipantMachine dead – no lights at all. 240v to the module – checked motor, heater and swapped the interlock – no joy.Suspected the module – replaced it with a new one and interlock -still no joy. When I unplugged the machine I caught a small twinkle from one of the display leds. Its all swap and change on these machines – very hard to diagnose the fault.Anyone got any clues please.

KeymasterI think that it’s A1635UK= EVOI model…
Because you have told that you have tried another PCB but with the same result…Check also if you receive 220V on PCB transformer… if not verify wires on heater connector… at one heater pin you have two wires which maybe has cutting off…March 2, 2008 at 4:58 pm #244654iadom

There is an A1636 sold in the UK Adrian, based on the Hotpoint WMA type machine with EVO2 electronics.

Keymasteraaaa, 👿
I can recognize machines only after commercial code or serial no. …
So reaper if you’ve tried another new PCB but without any new eprom you should try another memory to install… or check two things:
– at any PCB’s measure if you have 5Volts (DC) on smd conder located on top of memory location (in head positions of 1&8 pins).
– check small connector (4wires) of cables betweens PCB. Also if you receive 5V on fascia PCB (user interface).March 2, 2008 at 6:26 pm #244656iadom

Commercial code is 31294. 😉

Module I tried was an exchange one from emw,its rare to have the same fault with two different modules. Is this module interchangeable with the Hotpoint Wma version even though that has a digital display?

KeymasterIf they are looking the same (EVOII)? Yes. but you have to put respective new Eeprom.
And if has display than could be display itself because he should give something like “communication errors”…March 3, 2008 at 7:01 pm #244659reaper

Well, well went back today with another module – result the same – just a flash from the leds when unplugged. However as an afterthought I unplugged the thermostat and tried again – the door locked and the pump came on but no motor action.Going back tomorrow with a new thermostat – fingers crossed. I only continuity checked the stat, what resistance should I get at room temp.

KeymasterNo,
If you unplug thermistor (temperature sensor) you should receive error message on display board Led’s. Even so with sensor unplugged some of Led’s from fascia should flash in order to show errors. Did you received that? at least power Led/door lock Led/ and 3&4 Led’s should flash.
In other words your problem isn’t in thermistor…I remain in my first diagnose: change MEMORY EEPROM….Verify cable&wire connector to fascia… and buttons in fascia…

Thanks boys but the machine is now mine – swapped it for one of my quality refurbished WMs – customer happy. It turned out that the water valve had frozen up during the recent cold spell fracturing the valve – theyre prone to this because the valve is extended by a bit of glued plastic.Apparently there was about 3 inches of water on the floor -everything was soaked – I would have BERed it but didnt get a complete story.Baron I dont think you would have come across one of these in Romania, the motor is brushless – I think its three phase and the module has an enormous heat sink and large capacitor, if its like the Samsung 1600 its known as an invertor – how it works is beyond me.

I’ve met some of them (not too much/ just five) and yes, from your description, are EVO2/three phased. Are not too many in the market/sold on Romania because are very expensive and people doesn’t struggle to buy it…
Anyway my advice still the same…like in my earlier replies… main difference between this module and single phase module it is made (in principle) by the motor part. Otherwise functionality rules are the same.
Check user interface board wires and board as well…
