Got a faulty A1636 here. First off, can’t quite work out how to get the top off. Have undone two srews at the back: does it then slide backwards? It appears to be clipped in. I don’t want to force it.
Secondly, what’s a reasonable price for a new control module, and how much to swap it in?
Thirdly, the fault has been blamed on water dripping off a draining board on to the top of the wachine. If water can seep through the top, surely that’s either a design fault or a manufacturing fault?

Around £80 – £85 I believe.

Neither, they are not designed to be waterproof just fairly tamperproof and secure is all that is required on any machine these days.
Any further advice could be given directly from a local engineer particularly if you suspect the control module is at fault? (see link below) 🙂

Thanks for the swift reply. It was the local engineer who said it was the control module and apparently quoted 325 (inclusive) to replace it. This was done through a third party so I am trying to establish what a reasonable price might be. I would have thought about 160, tops. How hard is it to swap a control module out?

I understand it’s not waterproof, but I would have thought it could cope with a omall amount dripping off some dishes.

It’s a complete ‘maire’ on an Ariston, IMHO 👿
Not the swap, the fact that sometimes another fault has caused the module to become faulty. I believe Ariston engineers use the ‘plug + pray’ technic. Plug a new module in, and it could be the start of your problems, rather than the end.
Sorry, to be so negative, but these machines are a royal pain in the backside (IMHO + IME), and if it was mine, a use some kind of trebuchet to launch it as far away as possible!

Well the fault would appear to be that it sticks out from under the worksurface by a couple of inches, so any water that drips off collects on top, seeps through, and damageo the controls.
