Hi, I’ve had a good look through these boards and Google and cannot find anyone with the same issue I’m experiencing.

I put a load on this morning, and got back to find the washing machine flashing at me. The door could open (wasn’t locked) and it seems like it has failed before or during a rinse as the wash is full of detergent still.

The controls are all locked out, and do not respond. The following lights are flashing, all together:
    – Door Lock
    – Delay Timer
    – Super Wash
    – Easy Iron
    – Rapid
    – Spin

I’ve tried counting the flashes, but they just keep flashing, there are no pauses.

I tried turning it off at the plug, but as soon as I switch the power back on it just resumes it’s flashing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

Faulty main PCB, very poor quality Indesit machine with known dodgy PCB’s. 😥

Thanks for the quick reply. Doesn’t sound good. Do you mean one of these? :

If so, it doesn’t look like an economic repair as its about 6 years old.

    Thanks again.

What it doesn’t mention there is that the module has to be programmed. To do that you will need a £12 smart card and an £85+ card reader.

Don’t you just love the Indesit Company. :rolls:

If you phone them they may offer to do it for labour only which should be £105.00 however they will route you through an insurance/maintenance loop to try and get you to pay £15 per month for 12 months or around £180 to cover the repair and give you a further 12 months warranty. 😥

They will also try and tell you that you live in hard water area even if you don’t and try and flog you a box or two of descaler at £20 to £30 a go.
There are a couple of companies who will repair these PCB’s, have a Google for EMW. 😉
Or you could just go out and spend £450 to £500 on a Bosch. 8)

    NB.

Take great care if you are going to handle that PCB, leave the machine unplugged for 10 minutes beforehand, it packs a hefty charge if not allowed to dissipate.

Hmm, I have a fully working PCB for an Ariston A1436, not 1636, not sure if it’s compatible?

It was taken out and replaced with a new board, only it turns out worn brushes were the real culprit. Are they really worth that much?

PCB’d not interchangeable. The 1636 has a 3 phase motor, the 1436 is a special for Currys only, normal brush gear motor, totally different PCB’s.

Is what really worth that much??

Thanks again for your info, much appreciated. Sounds like its not worth it, as it was getting tired anyway and who knows when something else will go on it. I guess I now start researching what to replace it with.

    Thanks

Ah thanks for the info, I was referring to the value of a new PCB like the one in the link.

Compared to the actual cost of production then no, they are not worth even a 10th of the list price. :rolls:

I did give you a strong hint in my second post, you do only get what you pay for. 😉

    Hi,

Thanks, yeah I got the hint 🙂 Just trying to decide whether to make do with something cheaper until we get the kitchen done (in 3-5 years time hopefully) or to pay up now, and keep it when the kitchen is upgraded.

    Thanks again

With a few exceptions (Amica being one), something cheaper than an Ariston would be doing well if it lasted you three years!

Re: Ariston A1636 – unresponsive – flashing lights

As mentioned by another poster, I experienced the same problems with my A1436; it would not start, I’d press the start button and the door lock light would not come back on and it wouldn’t do anything.

In the interest of helping others with similar problems I’ll explain how I solved this problem. Firstly I thought it was the door interlock, so I fitted a new one.

This did not make any difference, so I scoured the internet for answers and many people were suggesting a malfunctioning PCB board. I priced this up and decided to ring Ariston / Indesit for a repair as it was cheaper than purchasing the board myself.

The engineer attached his diagnostic device to the machine and told me it was the brushes – four screws to access brushes underneath the machine which he had tilted securely backwards – under 20 mins and it was fixed.

The PCB was absolutely “A” OK.
