ParticipantIt begins a cycle then stops after a short time with the following lights flashing:
Easy Iron
Rapid
Door LockAny tips on how to go about this?
Also, any guides on how to dismantle this machine?
Many thanks for any help which can be given.
Ariston want £99.99 for a one time repair, for this problem, is that the best solution or is it worth attempting my own fix?
Will try anything to save £100.
Annoys me that they dont disclose what the error codes mean, I phoned them up and was told “Yes, that error means you need an engineer”. What a crock.

Participantf03 is officially an ntc fault
thats the temperature sensor on or near the heater
to be honest, its normally the pcb thats faulty, but its usuall worth tightening the connectios.. it sometimes works
depending how competent you are, http://www.emwelec.co.uk can supply you a pcb to fit , programmed at a reasonalble price

It is probably a fault on the main circuit board in the bottom of the machine. There is a firm called EMW who supply exchange boards. You could try giving them a ring on 0115 9652118.

ParticipantAny info on how I get to tighten the connections?
I have never opened up a washing machine before but am competent enough to do so.
Just need to know the locations of what needs tightening.
Thanks Phidom, I am in Nottingham 🙂
Thanks.

Well, that is the board I need.
The place is local to me as well so can drive up to them.
How easy are the boards to replace?

Participantthey arent so bad
u need to take the plug out, leave it for 10 minutes and remove the back panel
the pcb is on the left hand side at the rear, its screwed to the back of the cabinet, just make a note of the wiring before you remove it
id give emw a call first, cos they may need to put the correct software on it first
please, think safety first, remove the plug and be carefull of the razor sharp edges of the back panel
good luckJune 25, 2009 at 11:32 am #290157gimpymoo
ParticipantI assume there is no soldering involved?
June 25, 2009 at 11:34 am #290158helo_75
Participantno, its plug and play, with edge connectors
but u will need to leave it for 10 mins unplugged, to allow the capacitor to dissipate or youll get a nasty shock

ParticipantOk.. first problem…
When you say “Back Panel”.. what exactly are you refering to?
I cannot see a “panel”…
Also, how do I remove the top the machine, Ive removed the 2 screws from the rear and can lift it but it appears stuck at the front.
Thanks.

Participantthe back panel is at the rear of the machine, further down from where the screws for the lid are
you dont need to take the top off

ParticipantGot it, thanks.
The board is inside a plastic housing, right?
Ive removed a cap from the rear, do I just lever that up to release the board?
Thanks again.
Edit: Duh.. found the 2 screws holding it in.

ParticipantLOL – Fair enough.
When I said wiring diagram it was more a case of which headers plug into where.
Well, I connected it up and its doing a spin cycle OK…
So that is partial good news… will try a wash and see what happens.
If the headers are connected to the wrong part of the board, other than it blowing up, what else could happen? Some switches wont work?
