ParticipantHi
Have a problem with Ariston AFA350.
It washes the top tray fine but the bottom one doesn’t.
I’m assuming that there is not water getting properly to the bottom rotor that sprays water up – I’ve no idea how to test if this is the case or if indeed this is indeed the problem.
The rotor has not jammed – spins easily if I manually give it a whirl.
All advice gratefully appreciated. 🙄
Cheers

Ben
I suspect the lower arm may be blocked up, take it off and give it a good clean out making sure all the holes are clear of rice and stuff.
Let us know if thats any better

Hi
Thanks for the advice. Have unscrewed it and checked it. There was a piece of stalk in the end of one hole and have cleared it. Water flows OK through it when I run it under the tap.
It’s still not working though – I’ve reattached and placed the spray arm in a starting position and it doesn’t appear to be rotating. It moves freely enough if I manually spin it.
Is it blocked further inside? It’s starting to sound expensive ….. 😕

Unlikely to be blocked elswhere…if there is enough pressure to reach the top arm then the bottom arm is being fed ok. Much more likely is there is wear to the lower arm and its spigot which will allow the arm to rise too far when the water is pumped in, causing it to foul the bottom of the lower basket. To confirm this remove the lower basket and run it again to see if the arm now rotates. If it does then you will need a new spray arm and spigot but this should be quite cheap and straightforward to sort.

Hi
Well have tried without the bottom basket and the bottom spray arm does not rotate which indicates that it’s not getting jammed.
I’ve also tried removing the spray arm and placing a dry plastic cup over the inlet for the spray arm – this is forced away from the inlet. I have rechecked the spray arm for blockages by running it under a tap and there is definitely nothing inside it – water flows freely from all of the vents.
I have finally “fooled” it into thinking that the door was closed by poping the door switch in with a small screwdriver and watching what happened (with loads of towels just in case!) expecting a fountain of water to emerge from the inlet. This was not the case implying that the pressure to this is somehow down?
Confused about the fact that it dislodges the plastic cup – could it be a spike of pressure that falls quickly away.
This started to ring bells with something that I’d seen in the manual…. 💡 There is a half load setting that only washes the top tray….. The button was in…. 😳
Apologies for all who spent time helping – do appriciate all of your efforts though!
Cheers
