I have an Ariston AFA250 dishwasher. At first the the latch on the door would not lock, when I had a look I found the rocker switch to be burnt and preventing the latch from locking properly. I removed the switch checked it and found that it was open circuit all the time. To check the dishwasher I shorted the wires and closed the door, it seemed to work ok so I got a new switch and replaced it. But now when you turn it on it trips the house main circuit breaker. Does anyone have any ideas, or even a wiring diagram so that I can have a better idea? I am an aircraft electrician by trade so hopefully will be able to figure it out with the right info.

The only cure is to be based on long and careful inspection with the door panel fully removed. Obviously a wire is now in the wrong place touching an earth point I expect. An Insulation Test Meter is the correct way of establishing the fault, beyond that and for certain liability reasons I cannot say more, other than suggesting you contact a local engineer to take a look for you. Try our database link in that regard if you like: –

:plug: Always pull the plug from the supply before removing any panels don’t forget :zap:

P.S. No wiring diagrams available I’m afraid 🙁
