My relatively new machine decided to stop half way through a wash, and has done nothing since! We’ve drained the water, checked the pipes, cleared the filter, but nothing. You can set it ready to go, it waits its usual couple of seconds, clicks and locks the door, but the key symbol doesn’t show, and on a couple of occassions it flashes up ‘door’ but it is actually locking. Any help/advice would be appreciated – would rather not have to spend a fortune calling someone out when it might be something simple!

    Hiya

I can think of several faults that can cause these symptoms, none of which I would advise you look at unless you are a trained white goods engineer.

If you are looking for a service engineer use Repairs@ on the column on the left, this will send your details to a local registered independant engineer that will give you honest advise.

    Wherever you live.

It could well be the door interlock, but this is connected to the main PCB (module board). The interlock may lock and not switch power to the PCB or the PCB doesn’t respond to the door interlock signal. These boards have relays on them that fail and this could well be the fault. Faults are rarely apparent on PCB’s and they can be expensive (especially if purchased in error) and usually cannot be returned to the retailer. Door interlocks are reasonably priced, but a waste of money if it’s doesn’t fix the fault.
Call a reputable local engineer to diagnose the fault. In your case, it’s probably the cheapest and safest option. Then you can make an informed decision to repair or replace the machine. 😉

Remember that machine has a 5 year parts g/tee if if does come down to power module it would be covered by this.
