Ariston AWD 12 Advantage Margherita 2000

I almost hesitate to ask a question about this machine – from previous posts it seems like I bought the washer from hell. No matter.

It fills for a few seconds. It tumbles for some longer seconds. It stops. It pumps out. And keeps pumping out while the dial goes round. It will do it for hours. The pump works, it does empty, the dial goes round.

So – I put the dial to a black spot, wait, turn it off, turn it back on again. All that sort of stuff. Open and close the door. Take clothes out and start it empty (that often works). I thought it must be a hose kink thing, so I moved the machine further out into the room – and here’s the rub – the hoses aren’t kinked, but the sure fire (well, second or third time) way of making the thing behave is to move it – forwards, backwards, sideways, whatever. The place it worked in yesterday won’t work today, it will need to be shunted two or three inches one way or another, and eventually it will settle down and go quite happily through the cycle. Put another load in and the whole pantomime has to be gone through again. It’s been doing this for six months. Sometimes it sounds a little like the motor or brushes are unhappy – that nasty slight scraping sound – but when it finally decides to get going, it goes fine.

It’s two years old, but I gather that parts are 5 years covered. But I can’t find a local UKW mending man in your list. I’m BS21 (Clevedon) – is that too far off the beaten track? Or can I just hit it with a hammer somewhere specific (before I just go at it with a pickaxe)? Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Haze

The five year parts guarantee only applies if you call Merloni to carry out the repair at around £80 a call ! 😯

I have found an Independant repairer who covers your area though, they are Green & Burton Services on 01454 414531, they are not a UK Whitegoods site member but if you choose to phone them, please mention where you got the number.
