ParticipantI have a small internal water leak from the detergent dispenser. It seems to just be when it is filling and appears to be coming out from where the top and bottom of the 2 plastic parts making up the dispenser meet just above the drum.
Any ideas on how to fix it (mastic?) would be appreciated. Also how to dismantle to repair it would help. Thank you.June 13, 2008 at 9:02 pm #254599hotpnt

ok, well, the top contains the ‘holes’ where the water is directed into the 3 sections of the drawer, the water should get sprayed into the drawer then down the hose into drum, if it is leaking from the join (near the top) then there is another reason wht the water is that high, either the holes in the top (viewed with the drawer out) are blocked/obstucted, causing the water to be aimed at the joint, or the drawer is unable to drain into the drum, though this would usually lead to a leak down the front of the machine,
Try a fill with the drawer out & see which way the water is aimingJune 15, 2008 at 5:02 am #254600clive45

I tried a fill with the drawer out and the water comes out strongly from all the holes – some at an angle though. The water is dripping out by a clip which holds the top part of the dispenser to the bottom. It is at the rear where the dispenser narrows to become the water supply channel. Only does it when filling.
Do I take it apart now? Anything to watch out for? Seals? Should I use a sealant when re-assembling?

no seals in there, just clips together, as before, the water should not reach that high, so no need for seal, you could open it up & see if there is a split/blockage anywhere, or jut lower the water pressure coming in if its that strong

Took it apart and found some limescale where the top and bottom meet. Cleaned it all up and it seems to have cured the leak.
Thank you for the advice. -
