ParticipantI’ve not had one of these for a while and just got a call this morning.
I seems that I have the same old eight flashes on a 3/4 year old machine……. My question is- Is the main advice to customer still, that, “You have been very lucky, up till now – move on and buy a new machine”
Or.
These days are EMW’s refurbed boards now of a far better quality than the originals. I don’t think the price is unreasonable so the customer could get a few more years out of the beast. But of course there is no point if the new board is as unreliable as the old.
I would welcome any thoughts on this
Cheers David

Not had any problems with EMW boards once they’ve been fitted and done a wash or two. I think they were a bit over-cautious reducing the guarantee to six months. I would have thought AWD10 would have been older than 3/4 years by now, though, so other things like bearings and spider need checking. Not that you can do much to check the spider actually but you could ask them if they only do low temp washes.

Had a couple of these this year and now refuse if it’s eight flashes. I was advised to check that the connections to the board were tight, and checked through the m/c and all was fine so got boards from EMW and fitted them. They started ok but went eight flashes again so it must be something other than the board that didn’t show up. Luckily EMW will take them back for a small fee.
With the inherent reliability problems on Merloni products I will do some but not the eight flashes.
This is not a reflection on EMW, who are a real boon for us engineers and their refurb boards are definitely better than the originals, but on Merloni and their electrics.
