Can anyone please explain how to remove the door seal as it has gone mouldy and smells. I understand there are 2 types of seal with different methods of securing, but having had the top off I can not see anything inside or out holding it in place. I have even looked up from below.
Also of the 3 seals shown in the Spares section none are listed as being for the AWD12 – any ideas on that please?

We would need full serial number to ID the correct seal.

    Hi

    It’s an AWD12 UK and the S/N is 202203035 – 80260960000.

Part number is a C00080762. Secured by wire and hook to outer drum, no easy way, most washer dryer door seals are difficult to fit, this one is no exception. 😥

    Thanks for this Jim.

Can you give any info on where to look to release the seal? Is there a lot of dismantaling involved to get at it? Do I have to put the machine on it’s side to do the job?

Very little dismantling unfortunately, it sometimes helps to lean the machine back against a wall. It is really a case of fighting and fiddling until you succeed or give up in frustration and let someone else do it.

Infinite patience, very strong fingers and wrists are essential.

Where do I start from? Am I looking for a clip or screws to remove and if so where please? Do I then just pull it off the drum and then the outside?
Do I need to remove the door lock to access anything?

There is a wire running round the outer lip of the door seal with a tension spring, this has to be prised off, you do not need to touch the door lock, when you furl back the seal you should just about be able to see which type of drum to seal clip you have. Some are just a long thin spring, some a very awkward wire clip and fixing which I suspect yours may have. Remove the lid as well to shed some light on the matter and allow you to fit the seal to the dryer heater box inlet. All with the mains plug removed of course.

I somehow get the feeling you are going to regret trying to do this, you will not be on your own.
Getting the seal off is not that difficult, getting the seal and clip back on is another matter altogether. 😥

Yes you were right – I spent a large part of the weekend trying to get the wire clip back on. Rubbish design in my view. The local repairman sorted this out for £35 with long nosed pliers. Money well spent even though it only took him 10 mins!

glad you got it sorted, £35.00 was a decent price for the job, the Indesit Company would have charged you almost £90.00.

As for rubbish design of Indesit products that is only a small part of the problem when compared to the awful quality of their current appliances. 😥

Out of interest, was the local repairman a UKWG’s member ?
