ParticipantOur two year old Ariston AWD12 seems to have developed an aversity to entering the Drain/Spin part of the cycle. Whichever program is selected, it will not advance to this part of the cycle.
Rinse/Hold is not set. We’ve checked the filter, nothing in there apart from a couple of staples and some sort of scum (soap and/or limescale I suppose, looked much like washed out blu-tac to me but felt like wet chalk) but it’s all clean now. There’s nothing wrong with the drain mechanism or pipes because if you turn the machine off for a couple of minutes and set it to Drain/Spin it does it just fine.
Interestingly program 8 goes into a spin/flash error cycle (is this where the saying “on the blink” comes from? 😆 ) This shows 7 flashes which I believe to be heater related but this makes no sense to me in the context of not going into Drain/Spin.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It does make sense – the wash step has not been successfully completed, therefore this is a fault and the programme will not complete. 7 flashes is related to the heater circuit – potential faults are heater, thermistor, wiring or computer board. In my experience, this fault is related mainly to the computer board.
Power off if investigating, if you can’t find anything obvious check repairs@ or Directories for a UKK repairer in your area.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
What bothers me is that only program 8 returns an error code. Other programs just fail to proceed. A small part of me clings on to some hope that the error code isn’t what stops the other programs from proceding but that it is something more trivial.
The washing machine still works. You just have to manually move it on to the drain/spin cycle after it’s washed the clothes.
