ParticipantWe have an integrated Ariston BCS 3111 fridge/freezer. The fridge is not cooling properly (sitting at around 10c) but the freezer works fine. It’s at the highest/coldest setting. It’s about 7 years old. I’ve looked and don’t think there are any vents between the fridge and the freezer. Can’t see the back at all as its integrated. The back interior wall of the fridge does seem to run through a cycle where the condensation on it partly freezes, but only at the top and it doesnt seem to move the fridge temp down when it s like this. Fridge door seals all look ok. Been like this for a while as we have had milk go off before expiry date but we confirmed the problem when we bought a fridge thermometer and saw it was only 10c!! Any help appreciated. Could defrosting the freezer help?

Check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost. Check the freezer( evaporator) fan to see if it is running. Check the condenser coils( under the unit ) for blockage from dust. Check the condenser fan (under the unit) to see if it is running.
If you have frost in the freezer there is a problem with the defrost system and the freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food section. If that is the problem you can check the defrost terminator, defrost heater/s, and the defrost timer or adaptive defrost control If used on your unit or the main control board if so equipped. These things usually require dismantling the freezer and other areas of the refrigerator to be checked.
You could defrost the freezer by disconnecting the power to the refrigerator and letting it sit for at least 24 hours with BOTH DOORS WIDE OPEN to allow the frost to melt completely but it will build up again in 1-2 weeks and start the warming up again

Thanks for this. Will try all your suggestions out, although should mention that it’s not a frost free model so don’t think it has a defrost cycle. If the checks/defrosts don’t work we’re just going to buy a new one. Any recommendations for a reliable integrated model?

Gorenje, Bosch and Neff are worth looking at.

Look at bosch, neff, siemens, liebherr. Make sure you note what door mounting system your current model has before buying. You need to get the right type.
