KeymasterHi, I made a stupid mistake and left the sink into which the machine drains the water plugged, resulting in the machine syphoning back the water that it drained. I found the machine half filled with water and still filling with water from the mains. I switched off the machine and emptied the water from the machine by lowering the drain pipe. Now when I try to operate the machine again all it does is fill up with water with the selector clicking round and round. It does this on whatever mode i select until I have to switch off again and during this time it never stops filling water. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Model number would be useful but as it’s revolving constantly you could try resetting the PCB.
Put the knob on one of the black dot (off positions) then press the start button for 10 seconds and try again, hopefully that will sort it 😀

Model number is AB88X, I have tried the re-setting procedures but to no avail. The LED doesn’t flash or light, only the door lock LED lights. The water solenoid opens as soon as I switch on and after a few seconds the dial starts going round. I suspect that it’s something to do with the water level sensor, but I haven’t a clue where this is.

Found the water level sensor, apparently it’s OK. Opened the drain trap, found a couple of coins but these were not the cause to my problem either. Guess that it’s the PCB, it cannot reset. I know it’s my fault but it seems a bit frustrating that it should cause the machine to do what it’s doing. Is there any other way that I reset the PCB.

I don’t have AB88X on my Ariston list but if the dial does have a ‘Black Dot’ on it in about 3 positions, then that is the ‘reset’ positions. Set it on that spot then hold the on/off start button in for 3 secs or so ’til the light remains constant.
Beyond that I strongly advise getting an expert to check it out. We may have a local independent in your area if you click on this link: Repairs@

It has only one black dot on the dial, but I did try to reset on the other coloured dots as well. I also blew in the level sensor to see if it cuts out the solenoids but it only operates the drain pump so it’s really filling and draining at the same time, this I believe is the mode I found it on. I came to the conclusion that the board’s software is mixed up. Can the PCB’s software be refreshed or upgraded? because I am almost sure that nothing is burned up on the PCB.

Carrying out the reset procedure is (in theory) meant to reset the software on the PCB.
If it hasn’t worked then it may well be the board is faulty 🙁
