Ariston LB12T won’t spin quickly.

Hi All

Stumbled across this forum while I was searching for information about a problem I’ve got with an Ariston LB12T washing machine, so I htought I’d ask here!

It’s fine, apart from the fast spin at the end of the washing cycle. It spins slowly, and then you can hear it try to spin faster, and it just sort of gives up, and goes back to the slow spin. It repeats this a number of times, and our clothes come out a lot wetter than they used to. If we put it just on a spin cycle, it does exactly the same thing.

Any ideas what this could be, and how expensive it could be to repair? The machine is 6 years old, and it was only used at the weekends to do our washing, so it should be up to the job, but my 2 year old son has started toilet training, so it’s getting a lot more use now, and we could really do with it fixing asap!

Hi Steve,
With the appliance unplugged, I would start by looking at the motor brushes, these should be approx 1 inch in length when new, to give you an idea.
Failing that its possibly a speed control module fault.
