    Hello,

I live in France and have an Ariston LI660A (no specific reference to this model on any of the UK sites so I don’t know whether it is available in the UK).

Anyway, it starts to fill, then makes a sort of pump sound without water sloshing noises to accompany it. Then everything stops and the economy and rapid wash lights (from left to right light numbers 4 and 5) flash and it won’t work. There is water left in the bottom.

Help, I don’t think I’ll get an engineer out before Christmas and in any event I’d rather try and fix it myself.

    Thanks, Sarah.

I *think* it’s a drain error – is there water left in the machine? As you say, it’s not a UK model, so that’s a best guess. Check the label on the edge of the door and see if it says “Bit 100” on it.

Have a lookat this chaps thread for some idea of what is involved:

    Thanks very much

We have taken the machine apart and checked for blockages. Nothing seems to be blocked, so I’m wondering whether the drain pump is perhaps not working.

I looked on the door label and it doesn’t say “bit 100”, it has the model number and then it says “type LS12 EVO3”, I don’t know whether this is relevant.

I’m thinking of just getting a new pump to see if it works and wondered how expensive they are. Calls outs are pricey here in France, so it might be worth a try. My husband was able to take the old pump off without any problems, so should be able to fit a new one.

If you dismantled the pump to check, you should have found that the impellor “pings” round in quarter turns, quite freely. If it feels stiff or resists, the unit is worn and should be replaced. If you have a test meter, you should get a reading of about 150ohms through the coil.

    Good luck,
    Penguin45.
