ParticipantHi,
Bit of trouble pinning this dishwasher model down to a UK equivalent as it’s Spanish, but did find Indesit AF350 looks identical except it has an extra LED light for rinse aid being low. It’s hard as Ariston, Indesit and Hotpoint seem to be the same company. The machine looks identical to this: http://imagebank.indesitcompany.co.uk/brochures_online/pdf/Ariston/Dishwashers/AF350X_034628gb.pdf
Anyway, the machine gets stuck on the first cycle when put on a 55 degree wash, and only gets to the 2nd stage if a pre-wash is selected, which presumably uses cold water. Found when opening the door after it’d been running for ages and not advancing the program, that the water wasn’t hot, so reasoned it was waiting for a sensor to say the water was up to temperature before advancing its program to the next stage.
So next step is to check the heating element for open-circuit, but my dad can’t seem to find it and since I’ve never taken a dishwasher to pieces, I can’t help over the phone. Could anyone advise where it’d be located please?
Thanks!

The heating side of these poor quality Indesit produced machines is very prone to failure.
If you cannot see the element inside the tub under the lower spray arm then it will have the tube type element fitted internally. Plug out, towels on floor, lie machine onto left hand side looking from front. Remove base plate to access components.
Check heater for continuity, resistance and insulation. If it checks out OK then its 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain that the PCB has failed.
Unfortunately the parts ID software we have will only recognise UK sold machines.

Thanks, I’ll pass all that on.
Out of interest, if it must be replaced with a new machine, what makes are considered to be ones to go with these days?

The best mid range stuff is the BSH group products, Bosch, Neff, Seimens.
Almost any Zanussi or Whirlpool dishwasher would be better than an Indesit.
