ParticipantFirst – appologies if English is bad.
My Ariston LSI45 dishwasher has an ongoing problem: the symptom was that it worked only few seconds after activating it, and than stopped while the third LED (from the left) started blinking. Sometimes after RESET it worked fine and had the whole cleaning process OK and sometimes didn’t. I suspected the drain pump (that was noisy as well) and replaced it.
After few days it stoped working again, with no flashing LED whatsoever.
1. Does anyone know Ariston error messeges? I checked posts and found Indesit errors but it goes from A01 to A09, and I have only 5 LEDs….
2. Any advise about this problem? Is there something to check before calling an engineer (or replacing the main board…?)
Thank you very much,

Shalom, Alon. 😉
Unfortunately as you appear to be in Isreal the information we have for machines sold in the UK may not be the same as for your machine.
We don’t apppear to have any fault codes for the LSI45UK which appears to have a different PCB to the more common 100bit timer board that most of the known fault codes relate to. We do have codes for the Ariston LSI61 but that also has a completely different PCB.
When it stopped was it making any noise at all or was it totally silent, can you get it to start up again by resetting it?
If it is completely dead then an electrical test of the basic input/output wiring plus checking the things such as the heater, main motor, fill valves, pressure switch etc should be done before going to the expense of a new PCB.
PS. Your English is fine. 8)

Jim,
First of all, many thanks for your answer.
Here is the whole story:
The exact model is indeed LSI46, but I checked and this is identical to the LSI45UK thats why I asked for its error codes. Before I replaced the drain pump, it did make a strange noise (kind of short “DZZZ”, sounds like a solenoid that doesn’t have the power to engage). With the new pump the only indication is that the LED fades.
The strange thing is that sometimes, after a day or two the dishwasher is alive again, and after 2-3 washings it is dead again. When it works – anything works (heater, main motor etc). I checked the bottom for leakage or wet areas and it seems like it is quite dry.
About reseting: sometimes it works and sometimes does not. When it doesn’t – nothing helps but waiting for few days. I will open the device and visually check the PCB tomorrow. Any specific things to look for?
And – what is a pressure valve?
Thanks again,

What you describe could be a bad or burning contact somewhere, with the mains plug removed I would be looking at the wiring at the door switch, the mains filter where the cable comes into the machine and the contacts on the PCB.
I assume the mains plug and socket is in good order. The pressure switch is the water level control device, a small round component with a few wires and a thin plastic tube attached.
I will see if I can find error codes for this machine.

Oh, this type of a problem sounds like good news for me, I’ll dismantle anything and check for connections, cables etc.
Pressure switch – I saw that weird device and didn’t understand what it does. I understand that it is a kind of relay switch, I’ll check it as well
Thanks for advise, I’ll update the thread with the solution, if and when I find one.
Thanks again,

Here is the next chapter of this episode –
I opened it completely, checked all cables and board (that looks very simple, by the way – 5 resistors, voltage regulator, some diodes and relay and thats it). After puting it back together, the flushing (shortest) cycle went OK and finished. When I tried the longer cycle, the following occured:
Drain pump – 10-20 sec – OK
Filling pump – 30-40 sec – OK
Main motor/pump – worked for 4-5 minutes (water still cold) and stopped.
than – everything stopped, no LED was lit.
When I pressed reset – I was able to run the same sequence again and it stopped exactly at the same moment.
I suspect the heater now, even though it was replaced 3 months ago.
What would you think?
Cheers,

The pressure switch is not a relay as such, it senses air pressure pushed up the thin tube by the water entering the machine, some are just a simple rubber diaphragm with change over switches mounted on one side of this diaphragm which trip when pushed by the air pressure, later types can use digital sensing.
The type of heater you have is not prone to failure but a simple resistance/continuity & earth test would soon reveal any problems.
The PCB is a common cause of heater faults on later Indesit group machines but I have not had to change one on this type of machine, that said I have only seen one.

Promised to update when problem is solved:
After LONG checks and two technicians that did nothing (but suggested expensive solutions like PCB replacement, but not guarantied), I heard of some expert that might solve the problem.
She (!) was like 55 years old, and told me the problem is that I use too much soap. She found out some blocked pipe somewhere, that she claimed to be full of soap grains. It sounded redicoulos to me, but she was right!
She had it flushed several times with water, asked for 100 Israeli Sheqels (something like 14GBP), and the machine came back to life.
It works great, already had 5-6 cycles with no problem.Would you believe it?
Thank you for all replies and comments,
Alon

It sounds like the pipe was the thin hose to the pressure switch. 😉
