KeymasterHi, does anyone know the location of the filter for this washing machine brand?
My laundry is getting grey specks after the wash.
Tried to locate it from this thread as per this thread. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … margherita
but turn out its not the filter.Appreciate your help!
Thanks.

KeymasterHi Benjamin,
There’s a section of the site dedicated to this sort of thin, all about staining etc. here;
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/stai … tains.html
If you don’t find the answer there there are other causes as I’ve not completed that section by a long, long way so if you can mail us in a photo of the offending marks we may be able to point you in the right direction. There’s no gaurantee of course that it’s not something local to you that we are unaware of but I could forward the enquiry to the right people to get an answer, if it’s possible.

hi kwatt, thanks for replying. 🙂
I have read this http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/stai … tains.html
My washing machine is 3 years old and til now have not clean the filter before so I thought I should get that cleaned up before i hunt for other causes. 😳
The grey specks is happening in every wash now. My wife has to re-wash some of the laundry by hand.
I thought the filter was at the bottom of the machine. Remove two bolts and it turn out not to be the filter, but some magnetic stuff I guess.
Thanks alot!

KeymasterHi Benjamin,
I don’t know what the configuration will be for the Eastern markets on those appliances as, generally, they are different from Western European models in my experience. That said, there’s probably more convergance than ever now, but I can’t confirm it.
Some appliances don’t even have a filter, even in the UK many do not have them as customers regard them as a pain to clean. That they may well be, but it saves the pump or an engineer’s visit on a lot of occasions should something get in there that shouldn’t be. Sometimes you will find a “trap” in the sump hose as well that is designed to catch heavy objects, such as coins, before they enter the pump.
What I would suggest to you first is that you run the machine through empty on as hot a wash as you can with a little bleach in it to try to flush it through. Failing that then come back and let us know and see if we can suggest anything else.
If it’s any help I’d be 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it’s something external to the machine though, either water in, waste backfilling in or something inadvertantly put in there.

Hi Benjamin
Are the grey specs the same colour as the doorseal and is the machine getting loud on the spin?September 28, 2004 at 6:21 am #117205admin

Hi Simon46, I think the machine is getting louder on the spin.
The doorseal is grey in color whilst the stain on my laundry is dark grey.Kwatt, I will try out the suggestion tonight when I reach home and get back ASAP.
Thanks you guys!

Following the above thread, yes I have been using 30-40degrees for 3 years to wash. The water here should be soft water cos’ its drinkable from the tap.
On closer inspection between the seal and the spin drum, the external of the drum, I found that there are mouldy scum there. It almost look like the grey specks on my laundry.
Cleaned up whatever I could on the rubber seal. Can’t reach the drum.Tried an empty hot wash(60 degree max) with some bleach. Afterwhich load the machine with laundry for wash. Result lesser specks.
I am guessing the whole drum external is covered with this scum. Is there an effective way of clearing this, short of dismantling the whole machine? More hot wash with more bleach?
Thanks alot!

KeymasterYeah Benjamin you’re right, the only way is to strip it down if it is all clogged up. We have had some success clearing things like that with dishwasher cleaner, Finish in the UK, as it’s low-foaming so you don’t end up with bubbles coming at you out the soap drawer. 😉
I suspected you may not have a boil wash, many machines sold outside Western Europe don’t have such a thing, some don’t even have heaters in them either, cold wash only, especially in the Far East IME.
But try a few washes and if you can get dishwasher cleaner like that it may well help.
