    Hi,

My machine has recently become very noisy when spinning. The spin appears to function ok but is a lot louder than previously and generates a coarse sound similar to a pinball going round a roolette wheel but a lot louder.

Could this be the bearings going or is this a belt noise?

Appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

    Sounds like bearings.

Take out the mains plug, remove the back, slide off the belt taking care not to slice yourself open on the razor sharp edges then spin the drum.

If it is still noisy then the main bearings have gone. You may also see rusty marks down the back of the drum.

Are the bearings replaceable or is this a new machine job?

They are replaceable, it all depends how long you have left it making a noise.

If the drum shaft has been damaged then it is BER ( beyond economic repair)

There are different bearing support spiders and different sized bearings.

The thing to do is for someone to remove the bearing support spider and check on the condition of the drum shaft before going any further.

Some awkward bolts to remove, inside a cabinet with edges like razors. If you attempt to strip it down make sure you remove the plug and have some plasters ready. 😥
