    Hi everyone,

I’ve had a good look throught this site and found quite a few problems with these machines but nothing really matches our problem. Hope some one can help.

When we start the machine on a wash cycle it fills with water normally but then we just get a buzzing noise but the drum doesn’t spin to agitate the clothes. Some times you can see it just move a tiny bit and then stop again. I’ve manually drained the water which works fine. I then tried a spin cycle and the drum spins but seems to be slower than normal.

I’ve had the back off to check a few things. The wiring seems OK. The brushes have loads of life left in them. The filter is clear and the drain pump is working. No pipes look kinked anywhere. There isn’t even a fault code flashing. I did notice that when you hear the buzzing noise and the motor moves a bit you can sometimes give the pully a bit of a help by hand, it will start to spin up.

I was thinking that the motor is on the way out or the contol module is faulty. Does anyone know what this is or have any ideas about it? It would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t want to spend much getting it fixed due to it’s age but I’d rather not buy a new one if I don’t need to.

    Thanks, Chris.

This is a classic armature failure in the drive motor – slight “twitch” and the buzzing/humming noise. Replacement motor is the only solution.

Drive motor is HERE if you wish to proceed with the repair.

I thought it might be something like that. Thanks for letting me know Penguin.

    Chris.
