ParticipantHi Sorry I am new to this so lets see how it goes.
I have the above machine (Ariston Margherita 2000 A1435 Advantage) and have had it just over 4 years (And I got the extended warranty which ran out on the 4 Dec and I called before that , But that is a different story) Anyway it keeps stoping mid cycle and it starts flashing 5 times between pauses and the dial keeps spinning.
So in a nut shell does any one know what the fault code of 5 flashes means
Please help
Thanks

Hi
I would advise that you go here
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … whitegoods
and select an engineer in your area as fault codes can be misleading 😕

OK Thanks, however I am an engineer so I think I am more than capable of changing a component or two and I live in the outer Hebrides so white goods engineers are very few and far between and also expensive so I was hoping I could do this by my self on the cheap.
But thanks for the link

Hi Matt,
If we go by the book, the fault is the water level control (pressure) switch jammed in the closed position. The level switch on these Indesit/Ariston machines is a known weak spot, as the heater circuit is routed through it. However, there are two different switches (there’s a date code break), so the serial number of the appliance will be needed if you need the switch. So, check the switch for function (it will click under pressure) with the meter; check the hose for trapping, kinks and nips and the chamber it attaches to on the sump hose for sludge and blocking. Should all this check out, you need to go back through the wiring, especially where it joins the electronic board.
You will probably be left with a dilemma. The level switch may carbonise internally and appear to function. They are cheap however, so if you can’t find anything conclusive, that’s the first thing to replace. Circuit boards and EEPROMs come expensive though.
Personally, I would say that there are far better appliances available for not a heap more money, so think carefully before going mad with the parts.
Engineer or not – stay safe…….. power off.
Regards,

And also can I also check I have the right part this is the one I think it is http://www.4ariston.co.uk/cgi-bin/produ … t=pressureThanks for all your help again

Hi Matt,
As I said above, there is an early and late switch – the only way to be sure is post up the serial number and we can work it out from there. As for testing, it should break one circuit (1->2) and make another (1->3) when pressurised and vice versa when released. 1->4 is a flood protection mode which should only connect after extra pressure is applied.
