ParticipantHi, I’m the lucky owner of this pile of kak. It’s stopped working with no warning at all. When you switch on you get 3 flashes and a click as the door locks and thats it! nothing else, what a fabulous machine. I’ve looked in the surreal manual and checked the pump bit at the bottom. I retrieved 20p and soaked the kitchen floor but it still doesn’t work…. Help!

The 20p may well have caused the problem Mark, now the machine control pcb may need resetting.
Do a search for Indesits and Aristons and resetting in the forums, try that and let us know how you get on 😀

Hi Dave. Tried switching on and off on all the different coloured dots but to avail 🙁 It flashes a few times and then goes to the slow flash. When I try a program though I just get the 3 quick flashes…

Hi Clyde.
The light stays on but the dial doesn’t rotate…
When I do the reset thingy, the light flashes slowly but still no dial rotation

Temperature probe leads not connected by the sounds of it, or broken where they connect is more usual on these.

Okay… Where is the probe and what does it look like? I took the top off yesterday and checked all the spade terminals on the top of the machine, didn’t find any loose connections…

Mark,
It is next the the heating element attached to the tub with a rubber grommet. For liability reasons we cannot advise that you investigate further, rather do check our repairs@ for an experienced engineer to take a look and get it sorted for you

Right chaps, I’m not having any luck with this… I contacted one local repairer who never bothered turning up or even phoning me so then found another guy who said ‘Aristons, it’s all computers. buy a new one’!
So, back to the sensor thingy, I’ll have a go at it – I’m not scared 🙂
What do I do? I disconnected it and it looks OK – is there a simple test I can perform on it with a multimeter? (it is the smooth circular thing that looks light a big watch battery I’m assuming…)Cheers

Yes, that”s the beast.
You should have continuity across it, I have no idea what the reading should be though. If you have no continuity it’s a duff one.
Going back to me previous post, check the two leads that connect to it, especially at the terminal, they break there.

Right,
If the machine is dead, but the door locks, it is defo the motor or motor connections.
If it is the temp probe the dial would still click click round as so with most other components.
The motor is the ONLY component without a fault code.
Check the motor block wiring (a small pull on each wire) if this is O.K. then deffo needs a motor

Right. Had a look at the motor connections and everything looks fine and dandy…
Anyone know an engineer in Barnsley who’ll actually turn up? Otherwise it looks like I’m going to have to get all Basil Fawlty on its ass and give it a sound thrashing… ;o)

What’s the postcode there Mark please ?
Sorry I’m not familier with Barnsley codes and I’d hate to see you wreck your prize fruit trees for that branch 😆
