ParticipantHi All, 😀
Just been reading through the posts and found some interesting info on the washing machine that weve not had that long. We bought it from a friend whos had it just over 12 months. Its been working fine for a couple of weeks or so and now it seems to be playing up about 15mins into the main wash cycle.
The control knob (wait for it…………drum roll….) keeps on turning and the magic number of flashes is 15 between pauses. if i turn the m.c off and restart, it does sometimes carry on and continue with the wash
Would any of u wizzards be able to point me in the direction of a fault code relating to this mater. I am an electro/mechanical technician by trade (industrial), so i must have a go at this myself before calling in the boys (im sure u understand)…Thanks in advance

ParticipantHi LeeA,
15 flashes doesn’t tally with any of the known faults. Applying logic, by 15 minutes into the programme, the machine should have filled, started tumbling and probably be into the heat sequence. So, filling. You can probably hear water coming into the machine – is it running out at the same time? This can because by the drain hose being set too low, or fed to the bottom of the standpipe, leading to syphoning. Assuming fill, is the drum tumbling? The machine will try a few times before putting up an abort (clunking round).
Heat is where it gets complicated. There is a heater, a thermistor sensor and the computer board itself. Any one of these can and does fail; so if you have any doubts as to your own abilities check the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your area or put your postcode up in here and someone will pick up on it.Whatever you choose to do – PULL THE PLUG FIRST!
Good luck,

Thankyou for the speedy response to my problem. After further testing and an update from the Mrs, it seems the problem lies within the draining cycle. After the machine has gone through its detergent/aggitaion sequence it appears to throw this fault up whilst draining/pumping out the water.(not quite 15mins into to the cycle as 1st thought)
I have disconnected the waste pipe, dismantled the U bend that the pipe is connected to, (well, just before actually) under the sink (to check for blockages etc) and when the waste pipe is put directly into a bucket the m.c seems to function correctly, which suggests it cannot dump all its water when connected in this way for some reason.
The existing pipework seems fine and the water from both the sink and the m.c seems to more than flow freely to the drain.
Ive just this min finished a “load” that seems to have worked fine with the pipework connected up in the installed way, unless i have disturbed some trapped water or something. I will see how it goes……………. 🙄
Bit of a strange one is this im sure u’ll agree, but thankyou for your time on this matter.

Lee,
It almost certainly is something caught in the pump 🙂
Take off the bottom kick panel and the pump is accessed by unscrewing the filter housing anticlockwise and pulling it free (have a couple of towels handy to soak up the floods if it’s full of water 😉 )
A button, hairgrip or coin are the most likely culprit I reckon 8)

Martin,
Ive done as uve said and the pump impeller located in the recess seems to turn both ways quite freely, although there was quite abit of water that flowed when i undid the screw plug, could this possibly mean that there mite be a blockage in the chamber that runs horrizontaly up to this plug??
