Ariston Margherita A1234 – Will not use fabric softener

Hi

Recently bought a second hand (only few months old though) Ariston A1234 washing machine for £50

It works fine with one exception, no matter what cycle I put it on, it will not use the fabric softener. I have pulled the draw out and given it a thorough cleaning with hot water, but this has made no difference. All that i can see that may be out of place is the green cover over the fabric softener tray has a crack in and is bending up at the back so will not sit flush…

Can anyone give me any advice on how to solve this?

If there is no water entering the conditioner slot at all, you probably have a valve failure and need one of THESE.

If you have a test meter, each solenoid coil should read approx 3.5kOhm.

Power off first though.

I have the same issue on a Margerita 2000.
Conditioner never used on any cycle. Main detergent goes fine.

Can any tell me how to fix it?

I fixed the link to the valve P45 identified.

As he said, if there’s no water at all going to the conditioner tray then it’s almost certainly the water inlet valve that’s at fault.
