Participant18 month old A1535 fails to spin. Completes wash apart from spin cycle. Will pump out water if on a no spin cycle…any suggestions. Is it likely to be timeswitch or controlmodule, and if so what sort of cost does this involve…I am an electrical engineer, so happy to tackle myself -(yes I know we shouldn’t have bought an Ariston, but my old Indesit Omega lasted 10 years)

When it fails, does the control knob keep rotating and does the mains indicator light flash. If the light does flash then count the number of flashes between each pause. This is an error code.
When you say “Will pump out water if on a no spin cycle” does that mean that it does not pump out on a spin cycle?

thanks for the response….here is the info so far (I am not around to check further until this evening
1. “the control knob does keep rotating” I am not sure if the light flashes but I will check later and if it is then I will count the interval between flashes.
2. the machine can get stuck on the spin cycle if the spin speed is greater than 0, it initially tries to get up to speed but then very quickly gives up, then it sits rotating slowly forever.
When the wash completes with spin speed set to 0 the machine does not pump out the water, there is about an inch or two visible in the inner drum.
Prior to any of these issues the machine had been (and still is) making a loud buzzing noise, this only started doing about 4 weeks ago, but before the spin problem started

It sounds as if the pump/filter is blocked, the buzzing sound is probably the pump trying to rotate.
Remove the filter (with a towel/bowl handy ;)) and check in there for coins etc that may restrict the pump impellor.

will check tonight, but as I’m pretty sure it pumps out MOST of the water (but maybe not all…can’t remember) it is probally partially working, so either blocked filter or somethging else??? Would the pump buzz if it was trying to force the water past an obstructed filter – as in overloaded Would this cause the timeswitch to keep rotating?
