Unless you have an extended guarantee then you’re in for a big repair bill I’m afraid 🙁

With rust getting on the clothes usually means the machine will not only need a new Drum Bearing & Seal Kit but it may well be beyond even that quick fix and need a complete new Drum Unit. The former option will cost possibly a tad under £100 to sort. The latter I’m afraid would be uneconomical to even consider 😥

i,ve got parts quarantee, finally had to ring for an engineer to come out next monday going to cost £89.98!!!
but i’m told that it includes all call out and labour charges and the parts are still free for four years. i told them about the symptoms and they have ordered new drum bearings for the engineer to bring with him.

    i’ve registered now!

    toadhall,

    That’s good news then 😀

I would asked the engineer when he calls to carefully inspect the DRUM SHAFT for any damage. I suspect that the shaft will indeed be damaged and therefore in need of replacement. In order that is done though it will need a COMPLETE TUB & DRUM UNIT and not just the bearings replacing 🙁 Otherwise it’s likely to fail again in a few months time 😕

    will do, thanks very much.
if it does fail with the same fault within 12 months they will send an engineer free of charge to sort it again. but i’m hoping they can sort it out before we run out of clothes 😳 as i don’t really want to use it until the enginer comes.
