Help! My washing machine is behaving strangly, when it starts it fills with water, it heats up but then it doesn’t rotate slowly to move the water around like it normally does, after a while I have tried turning it on and off a few time and sometimes it might eventually manage to rotate but it seems to be struggling, oddly enough it also seems to manage to spin, but again it seem to struggle to get going. Could this be a brush problem? If is the brushes, can they be found via the back opening, can’t find them through the top.

The motor is controlled by a high voltage capacitor this job should be only done by a professional am afraid, try contacting repairs@ to see if thereโ€™s a local engineerin your area. power off if you attempt this yourself

Litlor, you must be thinking of a different model.

This machine has a normal brush motor and spincycle is quite right, it is likely to be the brushes worn out. However it could be a number of things including module failure or timer failure.

You will find the motor at the bottom of the machine and the brushes are readily available from our shop. Inspect them for wear before ordering a set.

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you a set of brushes in no time.

Please quote part number C00047317. note that these come singularly for some daft reason and you will need to order two.

Remember to unplug the machine before investigating.

Thank you both very much for your help, I’ll have a look at the brushes. If they are worn I’ll order them from the link you provided.

    What a handy forum!!!!

We have checked the brushes, they are fine.

    I’ve pinned down the problem.

    1. It fills up okay.
    2. It should then slow rotate backwards and forwards to wash the clothes, it isn’t doing this.
    3. Then it empties fine.
    4. It then fills up again to rinse, this happens okay.
    5. It should then slow rotate again to make sure all the clothes get wet, it isn’t rotating.
    6. It then empties fine.
    7. It is spiining the clothes okay. (points 4,5,6,7 repeat with each rinse).

    Any ideas????

If the motor is trying to turn (buzzing quietly) but not succeeding you almost certainly have a faulty motor. It is possible that the module may not be supplying enough current but it is probably the motor (armature fault).

With this type of fault it will probably spin OK (full current).

๐Ÿ˜ˆ Aahhhh! Got a bloke out, he looked at the machine, it was just explained that it wasn’t agitating and left him to work it out, to see what he would suggest, he replaced a module, he made it look like it was working, but it’s not ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ……..remain calm…..it was tested using programme 8, it filled with water, then it agitates (it wasn’t before), here is when we turned it off and the guy left, thinking it was now working………………..later I actually put a wash on, I change the programme, I tried number 1 with a heat of 90 degrees (whites) now it clicks once straight to programme 2, then starts to fill with water, then stops, then empties, then the dial goes round and round, the pump evetually stops and still it goes round and round. So I reset it and try programme 8 again, well it filled with water and agitated, then it empties and the dial turns round and round, (led flashes 8 times I think). I give up! it’s only 3 years old, and it’s just cost me ยฃ106 to supposedly be repaired. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
I am now suspicious that he hasn’t used the correct module for my machine, at least with the old one it did eveything it should except agitate the washing…..anyone got a magic wand….I think I might need a miracle!

No what you need is a sledgehammer, ๐Ÿ˜ฅ 8 flashes is the nemisis of all the unfortunates who choose to work on these machines. It is supposed to mean a heater relay fault but in reality can be almost anything from bad connections, faulty pressure switches, modules, NTC’s etc, etc. Why not ring him back and give him a chance to try and sort it.

Well, I got the guy back, he changed the module again, it works fine now, he said that although they had the same part number on them, when he phoned up and checked it turned out that it wasn’t necessarily for the same model, so he had to order one in especially or something. He didn’t charge any extra, so I’m happy, I just got a bit worried as I have had a few problems in the past with being ripped off. Anyway thank you for your help once again.
