That’s your problem then, the double pole on/off switch needs replacing (there are 2 different types fitted to that machine too, which may cause some difficulty with identification 😕 )
If you try Repairs@ we may have someone in your area that can sort it quickly and cheaply 💡

Mik,
I am a little confused from your report as to exactly what is happening here. 😕 (I cannot see your machine and can only diagnose from info given after all) 😉
So, first you said the on/off switch would not stay in! That indicates pretty conclusively to me that the switch is faulty…OK?
Now you say that the on/off switch works :con:
How can you be sure that it works fully? You may have just forced it to stay in, though that would not guarantee it is now working. ❗
So my conclusions so far has to be that the on/off switch is the fault whilst not ruling out the possibility that the door lock switch could be faulty. One more thought 💡 ….the door handle and door striker are operating correctly are they to ensure they locate into the door lock securely?

took the top off looked at the switch and didnt force it just checked it and now works fine as the power comes on and off as only two blue wirse go into this and they make or break the circuit . as this works fine then i looked at the door switch this i took off and checked to see it was not sticking . when the power is on the light of the door lock is on this is the case even when the lock is dissconnected. also when connected and the door is opperated the light still stays on and nothing happens when put on a program eg spin

In that case it most likely is the Door Interlock I would think?
Although I’m still worried about your first statement that :

On your machine there are 2 variants ‘Door Interlocks’ the earlier type is black and Part No: C00011140 and the later one is grey and is Part No C00085194.
If you want to take a chance and fit a new one then you may order by email to : spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk stating the correct part no 😉

sorry to trouble you but on further investigation although the on/off switch opperates (now stops in ) the on/off led does not light just the doorlock led glows this is dull so suggests to me as power is on somewher
and when the doorswitch is opperated (eg shut )the led glows brighter.
sorry for the earlier mixup
thanks mikJune 17, 2005 at 1:57 pm #138693Martin

Sorry then Mickk, but the advice given by me has clearly not helped in solving your problem 🙁 And unfortunately we as trade members are not obliged (for legal liability reasons) to suggest any member of the general public should test, check or inspect any electrical components within any appliance….sorry mate 🙁
Therefore I strongly suggest you get one of our recommended engineers 😀 to do the repair for you by clicking on this link:- Repairs@
