    Hi,

The machine leaked moderately last Friday midway through a wash.

Tried it again on Saturday and the first fill did not even touch the clothes in the drum, it just seemed to go directly onto the floor.

Pulled the machine out on Sunday, took the top off, pressed home a few hoses and tipped it up slightly to look underneath as well to see if the leak could be traced. None of the hoses seemed to be loose.

It did not leak. Went through an entire wash. Same again today, it seems fine.

The machine is 10 years old. Anyone come across this? Should I get it checked? Should I just buy a new one? Tends to be used on average 3 times a week.

    Thanks for any help.

    Regards

    M

Intermittent fault. Difficult. Would reccommend keeping it under supervision. That is be around when it’s on to turn it off if it starts malfunctioning. It is at the moment when the fault occurs that you have your chance of finding it. I wouldn’t buy new just yet. There’s a lot of junk on the market these days.

    OK thanks.

Yeah I’ll supervise it for the time being.

Any recommendations for a good make of new Washer/Dryer these days?

Okay, you’re saying that the water just went directly onto the floor without touching the clothes inside the machine. This tells me that the leak is possibly on the top of the machine and not on the bottom. My guess is that it’s the main hose leading form the soap drawer compartment into the drum. From my experience with many Aristons, this hose is poorly held in place on the soap compartment end without any clamps like most machines. The only thing that’s keeping it from falling completely off is usually a sort of hook on one side of the hose connected to the soap drawer compartment. I can imagine that this hose could have slipped off and on with the movement of the drum. This would be consistent with the sometimes-it-leaks-sometimes-it-doesn’t symptoms you’re describing.

First, unplug the appliance from the power outlet :plug:. Then remove the top again, check the hose I described to see if this is the case on your Ariston. Check if there are any clamps holding it in place on the soap compartment end. If not, see that the hose sits snuggly over the mouth piece on the soap compartment and find a fitting clamp or plastic strip and fasten it around the hose near the top. If the problem was this hose slipping off, this should fix the problem.

    Hope that helps,
    Mr. Commutator 🙂

Your washer/dryer is known to be a very reliable machine and certainly worthy of getting an expert in to check it out for you. I do not support the idea of attempting the repairs yourself and suggest for safeties sake you cease using the machine and click in this link for help:Repairs@
