Ariston Margherita AWD10 Wont start

Hi All, i have the above washer/dryer and yesterday it was working in its own strange way! how ever i should say the last time i used it was on the dryer setting which i stoped 20 mins into the 40 min cycle,Today i sst the machine to a number 8 cycle thats a 30 min wash, the light flashed once to accept the selection then the door locked and then a click but i am not sure if thats the sound of the door locking, then…. nothing and the light stays on, it wont fill up never mind drain! have tried all different programs and setting, on drain, wash and spin and also on the dryer and nothing hasppens. The dial wont even do its familar turning which at this point would be a comfort!! have emptied and cleaned the filter. Any ideas???

is it possible the door is not shut entirely, the hinges are well known to fail and the plastic supports wear so the door droops over time, the odd “click” sound couuld be the lock not latching, if it sounds different to normal. a gnetle push on the door and restart of the prog will check this 🙂

Hi, thanks for the reply. Following other advice from another site i currently have the top and back off and have pulled out the connectors from that block which is on the left hand side of the washer at the bottom, was told to remove these and plug the machine back in (done) and i should see and led light which i dont, then un plag, put all the connectors back in and it should work. So i am off to work very soon but will put everything back together and shut the door hard, water pipes and waste pipe outt i should say that when i do select a cycle the door does lock or at least it wont open and is not loose at all, but will try when i have done my ten hrs of work!

Hi Knoxy, you have been given some bad advice from the other site you have been on.

If you remove all the connectors from the board then you will also remove the capabillity for the board to work…. Notwithstanding this, if one of the connections that you have just removed accidentally touches the casing and becomes live when you are switching the machine on to test it, then there becomes a danger element.

IIRC this machine has a 3 phase board… If this is correct then please leave the board at lease 5 mins before attempting to touch it after disconnectiong from the mains.. **Shock Hazzard*

Standard, brush gear motor on these. It could just be worn motor brushes.

PS. Allsorts is right, very poor advice from ‘another place’ :rolls:

Allsorts, your right in hindsight it wasnt a very bright thing to do was it!! i left washer unpluged all night and just reconected it back up and no joy still the same.
Gandh1, after connecting it back up i shut the door quite firmly but no joy either.
Iadom, will check out these carbon brushes you speak of, will look on this site to find out how, but can i ask is it the same for all ariston margheritas, as in how i can get access to them???

Aaarrrhhh, did a search for these brushes on here and the link is dead or missing or so the page tell me, error 404 so i will search the web and see what i come up with but will keep checking to see if the link has been sorted out,

Hi Knoxy,

It should be these carbon brushes in that washing machine, an ICE motor.

Do check the motor before ordering though to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure as Indesit have a nasty habit of changing stuff on a whim. :rolls:

Hi all, i have looked all over the net to find out where these caron brushes are on my machine, can find loads of videos on how to remove the actual brushes but nothing to tell me where there are on the machine and how to them, can anyone help?
ps as i said before the page on this site for the brushes does not work.

Have you looked HERE 😕

Strange as it may seem, the motor brushes are……in the motor. 🙂
You need to remove the motor and identify which type of motor you have, two or three different ones used on these machines.
