Ariston Margherita CDE 12X Programme selector spinning

Please Help !!!

i have an Ariston Margherita CDE 12 X washer/dryer, however i now seem to have a problem with it, causing the machine to stop working.

when i turn on the power, the programme selector knob keeps turning and clicking.

The red LED seems to flash 13 times and then has a pause before starting to flash again another 13 times etc…

I have tried putting the machine on a dot (stop/reset) and turning the power off etc… , but this doesnt seem to fix the problem.

I have unscrewed a small black cap on the front bottom right hand side which appears to be a filter and removed a couple of coins and a hair clip !!!, but again this hasnt helped.

Can somebody please offer me any clues what seems to be the problem ?

You have a fault on the dryer side, either the fan is faulty or the NTC ( temp controller) this is quite often caused by breaks in the wiring to the NTC, this wiring is rather thin. Be sure to remove the mains plug, whip off the lid and have a look at the small components on the top of the heater box for loose or broken wiring.

In the end I couldnt wait until tomorrow, I want to see if this was the problem just now !!!!

you are truly a genius !!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have saved me an absolute fortune! I had called Ariston earlier in the day who offered to send out an engineer for £89 to just look at it, and rethey refused point blank to give me any advise over the phone of what i could even look for before they sent out an engineer!!

anyway, as you said, I took the lid of and found what i assumed to be the heater unit at the top in the middle, and sure enough there was a small thin blue wire that had become disconnected from the a spade connector! I hadnt noticed it when i first looked becuase I wasnt actually looking for a disconnected wire and also it was resting on the plastic coating of the spade connector so it actually looked connected. Anyway, I simply stripped back a bit of the wire and poked it around the spade and slid the connector over it to hold it in place. Turned the power back on, and Hey presto everything is perfect again.
