    Please Help !!!

i have an Ariston Margherita CDE 12 X washer/dryer, however i now seem to have a problem with it, causing the machine to stop working.

when i turn on the power and select any programme, the programme selector knob keeps turning and clicking.

The red LED seems to flash 8 times and then has a pause before starting to flash again another 8 times etc…

I have tried putting the machine on a dot (stop/reset) and turning the power off etc… , but this doesnt seem to fix the problem.

I had an Ariston engineer round after paying them £125 a ‘fix it or throw it fee’ but the guy diagnosed a faulty water heater. He didn’t have one on his van so he said he’d arrange for another engineer to come with the part and fix it. The engineer turned up but didn’t have the part and said he hadn’t been told to bring one. The first engineer unscrewed a small black cap on the front bottom right hand side which is where the pump impeller is and removed 3 coins !!!, but again this hasn’t helped. Although it did work again just once after removing the coins but now the problem is recurring.

Can somebody please offer me any clues what seems to be the problem? I have read a similar post that says that 13 flashes means it’s the dryer heater wiring. Could mine be the same problem because I would like to just deal with this quickly myself rather than waste time waiting for Aristons engineer to come round again and waste my time and his.

    many thanks in advance

Re: Ariston Margherita CDE12X spinning programme selector

error 2 is a motor fault

I would check motor brushes first

This is the message for CaesarBV1. I do wish cheeky s*ds like this “faduque” character would start their own questions and not barge in front of previous messages like they are the only ones that matter!

8 flashes should be either a duff wash heater or a duff relay on the pcboard, though usually it is the former. If the latter it`ll be a new pcboard which renders your machine beyond economical repair for all intense and purposes = 125 quid down the drain.
Their are 2 possible wash heaters fitted to this model based on the serial number one is the short one about 6″ long part number C00066086 and the longer roughly 10″ heater part number C00064556, frankly you could have either. Knowing the approx cost price of the part the retail price should be no more than 12 quid for the short one and approx 20 quid for the longer one anything approaching 30 quid they have obviously been ” on the business management course “.
All you need to do is to get the correct heater, then change it which is pretty simple for someone with 35 years experience but might not be for someone who has never done one before presumably like yourself. Since you have already lashed out £125 ( outrageous! ) and given them this money I should demand either a refund of £125 because the machine has not been fixed or get them to carry on and get their act together and fix the bloody machine; 30 years ago I used to work for Ariston / Indesit and they were pretty useless as a company back then, very badly managed, charge the earth but could not careless, not a lot changes does it?
If you want to know all the fault codes go to top of this page look for help and advice, fault codes, click laundry, then find ” indesit washing machine and washer dryer with rotary dial ” and these are your fault codes even though it says Indesit, and then copy and paste and print them off to keep to hand..

    Hope this helps.
