ariston margherita or a servis washer

I am buying a washer from my local paper (cant afford new) and there are 2 in my price range. A servis for £45, says in good cond or a ariston margherita described as “perfect working order inside and out , not even a scratch on the front” for £60 inc delivery and i will veiw the machine before buying. I dont know alot about washers but i need one that wont keep breaking down and will last a good few months (until i can save fro a brand new one)

so… which would be my best option

Both are pretty basic machines not best known as being reliable I’m afraid. So as money is tight and it’s one or the other for you? Then best YOU choose and devil take the hindmost. Good luck!! 😉

my personal opinion is go to the laundrette till alother machine comes in the paper both are known for sudden expensive failures no matter how good they may look

Both are pretty poor machines 🙁

If the Ariston is a ‘Margherita’ it might be a model which is over 10 years old, but is an ok machine, as long as it isn’t leaking from the pump.

But I’d go for the laundrette option, or down to the local river, and beat your clothes with a stick 😉

I have to say I would not touch a SERVIS appliance ever without saying exactly who I work for the ins co that I do work for deals with Servis apps and they are beyond a doubt the one manufacturer that we have the most complaints on. If it does go wrong and the parts are available they are inevetibly on order for a perpetual 10-14 days (we have had one customer whose parts have been on for this amount of time for the last 6 months) So maybe better off with the Ariston but I know nothing about those so it’s your choice, be aware though that the Servis factory in Italy closes for the whole of August so come Sept Oct parts are rare as hens teeth.
