    Hi guys
My dear husband decided to take the door off our Ariston oven (FV 37 GB), to clean out the grot which had accumulated in the bottom of the door. When he was wiping the door hinges (the metal bits on each side, in case I’m not clear), they somehow folded themselves up, and we can’t re-fit the door.
I can send a photo of the offending hinge to anyone interested – the door’s currently on our dining table and we have an interesting open plan oven effect now…
It can’t be the first time this has happened, but we don’t know where to start prising them apart.
    Thanks in advance

Re: Ariston oven door – hinge locked

The springs on these are extremely strong and given the relatively small part that has to be pulled down the leverage required is pretty large 😯

You need to pull the stub part protruding down then lock it in position with the tab, while at the same time keeping the door flat, not an easy job to be honest but it’s easier with two people.

Please be careful on two fronts, if the hinge “snaps back” without being locked it can take chunk out of anything in it’s path (scars to prove) and the door glass can easily be smashed if it isn’t protected.

    Good luck 😉

    Dave.

    Thanks for your reply.
While our door hinge didn’t sound like what you described, we worked on the principle of leverage, and managed to flip open the hinge with the handle of a spanner. We then had to wedge each hinge fully open with a 2p coin (!) in order to get it back into the oven slots without the whole thing shutting up again. So, extremely technical, but it worked, and my husband only has a slightly dented finger, no blood! 😀
Now, I don’t care HOW grubby the door gets again – it ain’t coming off!
    Thanks again
    Vicky
