My Ariston oven (Model No. FV4 UK) sometimes shuts down completely after about 40 minutes and won’t come back on for at least half an hour when it has cooled down. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecieted.

This model has a safety thermostat at the back which is more than likely cutting out. Would suggest that you get the cooker checked out ASAP. How long has it been installed, it may not have sufficient space to allow for cooling around the unit, or the ‘tangental’ cooling fan may have failed.
