Hi. Yet another dead Ariston. Doing the wash tonight and all of a sudden it makes some klunking noises and then drains completely and then the knob rotates like mad. Lots of flashing from the on/off light (which I didn’t realise the significance before it stopped … see later)

I get the manual. Try to reset it by setting to *. Then on a cycle it fills, drains completely and then knob rotates.

Try reseting it again. This time nothing. No fill,no drain, no knob rotating. One flash of the on/off light then nothing.

Go online. Find this forum. Try the hold the on/off till it flashes idea. Nothing. When I turn it on it flashes one and that’s it.

Read some more. Open the lower panel. Drain the pump. Nothing blocking as far as I can see. Little propellar thingy turns freely.

Put it all back together. I turn it on and it flashes one and that’s it.

    Any thoughts?

    Shamus,
You’re half way there. Switch off, set dial to black dot, switch on and any programming should cancel. Switch off, set programme, switch on and wait for fault. When the dial starts to revolve, count the flashes of the power lamp – they will cycle in a group of flashes. If you can post the number, we can link them to the list of faults and give you some guidance.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

    Shamus,

You have a motor and possibly control module problem then I’m afraid. Could be expensive to sort I reckon 🙁

If you turn the drum by hand does the motor sound smooth or does it make clicking noises? It is very likely the motor armature is shot!

    Shamus,
Sorry for lack of response, network failure at this end. Anyway, Martin on the case as usual!

    Good luck

    Shamus,
Before to do anything call Ariston servise and check with them- in my case I found the 5 years parts replacement IS working, I had to pay only callout charge for replacement of the control module.

Hi all. Thanks for the info. Found we are still in the 5 year zone. Called the service person out and it was indeed the control module. However, it was not in stock so another visit next week or so.

    Thanks again,

    Hi,

I had the same problem. I start my wash cycle and it would fill with water then it would stop and the programme dial will start clicking around and won’t stop. I tried unplugging it for a day and it still wouldn’t work. My friend had the same problem and it cost his quite a bit to fix and I started to look for new washing machines. But before I bought a new one, I thought I’d try and see if anyone had the same issue and solved it. I only found one solution on the net and I gave it a try and it WORKED! Saved me a lot of money.

I found many people with the same problem so I thought I’d share my experience.

Give it ago, I’m not sure if it would work for you but its worth a try. I found the solution here.
