Hi,
While cooking a couple of days ago the red light on my hob (which has previously never worked) started flickering, and then a crackling noise started coming from behind the hob switches. I turned it off immediately, then saw a little smoke coming from under the switches.
Turns out, whoever had fitted it (just over a year ago) hadn’t properly fitted one of the rubber seals under one of the switch knobs – so I’d guess some water had got in and caused the trouble.
Nothing seemed to actually blow, but obviously I am not too keen to turn it back on to find out!
Anyway, my question is: is this a problem an engineer would normally try and fix or am I looking at a new hob?
It has Arrow printed on the back right corner. It looks identical to this:
http://www.teba.com/uk/Alisveris/urundetay.aspx?id=359 but in white.
So that’d make it a TOA24GBX1. The oven is also Arrow (SOEH W A0200) if that is any help.
Cheers for any advice,
Jim
