ParticipantHere’s the long and short of it.
Customer has a loud rattling noise when using the main oven.
Atag oven approx 30+ years old. [No model or serial :(]Upon inspection I found that the nut which kept the fan onto the fan motor spindle had sheered off and taken also 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the thread with it. After taking the oven out and getting a solid grip on the shaft in order to somehow get the fan to stay in place it did. Gave it a pull a tug tested it for half an hour… perfect. Slight bodge up but the customer wa shappy. 1 Week later i get a phone call. Same fault.
Again on inspection the fan had worked it’s way loose. I removed the appliance took photos of the fan motor and every angle of the appliance to see if ATAG could somehow source me a fan motor. No joy.
As much as it is a bodge up job I believe the last case alternative would be to secure the fan onto whats left of the threaded spindle using some kind of heat resistant cement/glue/silicone?
The question is: what can I use or what would you recommend?

If the customer can’t be persuaded to see sense and go for a new cooker and doesn’t mind paying you handsomely for the time you’ll spend, I would take a look through all your suppliers’ catalogues to see if there’s a similar looking fan motor. Of course there’s lots that will look the same and won’t fit so you need to be sure before laying out any money. Main factors to consider are shaft length, fan diameter and depth, direction of rotation, fixing positions, toc or not, … and that won’t be the end of it.
Unless you stumble on the right one pretty quickly and it’s cheap, it isn’t going to be worth it.

Thanks for the reply Mike sorry it has taken me a while to respond. I actually saved the cooker! A cold weld by the name of JB Weld, it seems to have done the job.
It does seem liek a madhouse at times. I’ve only recently turned self employed and i swear customers were never so awkward!?
Again, thanks for the reply.
