ParticipantHi there!
I am in Australia and currently have a 7kg LG front loader that has served me well for about 12 years, though over the last year or so it’s starting to sound like a tractor on the spin cycle! I am sure the only reason it hasn’t spun out of the laundry is due to the lack of space! 😆I want to stay with Front Loaders as it is what i grew up with, we have a top loader at work, and in my opinion the front loader gives a superior wash and is gentler on clothes.
I am considering either the Miele or Asko brands.
Any feedback on either of these brands.
I have read reviews and there are good and bad for both. From what I can tell Asko machines seem to not get as good reviews about a year ago? However they tell me they moved locations last year so hopefully things have settled down now.I would prefer to pay not much over $2000

Miele’s “built for 20 yrs use” is no idle boast. 😉

Thanks for responding Martin 🙂
Any particular brand you suggest as being good or steering away from?
I have read mostly negative reviews about the W1913 on product review, but I also know often people don’t bother leaving positive reviews.
having said that the W5741 has mostly rave reviews on the same review site LOL
Financially I would prefer the 1913 but the 5741 would be at the top end of our budget. They have a $200 off sale until the end of August so that would bring the price to $1899, provided we buy by then 🙂June 30, 2014 at 11:15 am #415944kwatt

I wouldn’t entirely trust reviews, a subject of discussion here lately. 😉
The Asko is also a very robust machine, easily a match (if not better) for the Miele so either one you really can’t go wrong with if you ask me.
Miele’s claimed 20 year lifespan has been called into question here in the UK, you may not know that Martin, as it is based on limited testing apparently. Advertising Standards have made Miele remove the claim I am informed.
Still good machines though, way better than the normal stuff you’ll see.

Thanks Kwatt.
Still no closer to making a decision 😆
I haven’t seen any topics here on reviews, but I know with products in general as much as i enjoy reading reviews, i have to remember that sometimes people are not so honest.
I have seen people who own blogs can be somewhat more promoting of a product they have been sent to test!! :rolls:Funnily enough i also read some reviews saying things like I am giving 1 star for this product because the delivery person was rude, or i didn’t tell them i have stairs and when they came they said they could not deliver the machine on their own and would have to return another day with a second person! Which then changes the overall star rating on service not product!
Any particular models you would or wouldn’t recommend? 8)

Asko machines are all the same basic platform, you only select the option in essence by model.
Miele, I have no clue what they’re doing at the moment.

ahhh yep so as long as the base model has the things i want then i am good to go with that model?
I also just realised i may have posted this in the wrong section *blush*
I did do a search for miele and asko but the only things that came up were questions for help, feel free to move it to the right section i have no clue how to do that without starting a whole new thread and that would just be spamming 🙂June 30, 2014 at 11:50 am #415948kwatt

Product reviews rarely, if ever, touch on the subject of getting it fixed if it goes wrong? Who does the repairs and how quickly? So if your local retailer also does cover repairs and servicing then that could well be a big deciding factor. However if you buy online from a company that simply sells appliances and dumps it on your doorstep, who’s gonna fix it when it goes wrong. Oz is a B-I-G country and if it takes 3 hours to call out the flying doctor then what hope is there of getting your washer fixed out in the bush?

Martin that is a good point about repairs!! 🙂
I hadn’t thought of that!
I know the ASKO showroom is about 20minutes from me, I will go in and talk to them about all that. My understanding is that warranty issues are dealt directly with the company not the store bought from?Miele showroom is about an hour away so I will give them a call and see what they say
