The dishwasher had been screwed into both left and right wooden side panels from the middle of the dishwasher. 5 screws through top middle of the left hand panel into the adjacent cupboard and 2 screws through the top middle of the right panel into the wooden side panel. This could have only been done before the sink and work top were fitted. What was the fitter thinking…I had something very similar a few years back turned up to a bi dishwasher explained u had to pull it out only for him to reply you can’t I screwed it to the wall with a bracket before putting the work tops on. Unbelievable these people at times.

Best one I ever saw was a Candy integrated dishwasher on a Wimpey site.
The installer just put self-tappers through the inner tank and side panels to the adjacent units either side to hold the DW in place. he broke the legs putting it in so, of course that was the obvious solution. :rolls:
Fault reported: Leaking.
Guessing he wasn’t popular when we invoiced Wimpey for the “warranty” call as well as telling them the machine was scrap.

Had the same job this morning, the dishwasher was screwed into the side before putting a great big worktop on it. Said it was supplied by B&Q and fitted by a “friend” through connections. i told the customer to get this “friend” back and sort it. One is not amused!

Had one a while back, the granite worktop was bonded to the top of the integrated dishwasher using the material that bonds the granite to the units. Problem being it was not glue but a substance similar to concrete. The worktop was a good 8 feet long.

Know – it- all customer fitted his own integrated Indesit dishwasher with the end panel of the kitchen bonded to the side of it with silicone. He said that there was no place to screw it to the machine and the screw heads would show. If that wasn’t enough, he had tiled the floor all around the bottom of the end panel. And just to finish off the stupidity, silicone’d the plinth behind the tiles and put skirting over it at the end.
I am usually tolerant of folk but this guy was actually proud of his work and told me so. “It went in easy so it’ll come out no problem” he said. So I said ” See you when it’s out then” and left.
His wife eventually rang back about 2 weeks later saying he had got the machine out of the cabinet for me to repair.
Went back to find the plinth and side panel in pieces in the garden and two rows of tiles hammer – smashed off the floor. “Oh yeah, he tried for a few hours and then he lost his temper” she said. :rolls: -
