Hello. I am refitting my kitchen and have been trying to decide which fridge/freezer set up to have – integrated, American, separates etc etc. Have now decided (I think!) to go for separate free standing tall fridge and freezer to put side by side. I want stainless steel but just can’t decide on the make. Some of the ‘good’ makes look so expensive. Are you really getting what you pay for? Also, some of the depths are quite large – so it would protrude from a row of tall cupboards. Any suggestions would be most welcome! 😕

It does seem nowadays that since consumers are requiring A rated products the insulation has to be thicker which includes the doors. So to maintain storage drawer and shelves space the only way you can go is to make the product deeper.
Gorenje produce a good range of refrigeration without spending an arm and a leg. They will come with a full five year warranty as well, you can see the range here available from independant retailers. The models to look at end in DE.
Next up would be Bosch and Siemens (same stable) good quality products German design and led with a two year warranty.
Then at the top would be Miele and Liebherr. Miele are very good appliances however due to the high price of spares and gaining tech info is very slim unless you are a Miele service agent. Liebherr are at the premium end along with Miele and as far as we can tell produce some of the Miele refrigeration for them. Liebherr specialise in refrigeration so be prepared for a higher price per unit.

turk refrigeration if on a budget (hotpoint/beko) or bosch/liebherr for premium spec.
dont touch anything else as £300 would be my min budget for 150×60 tall freezing 🙂
ps most miele refrigeration is same spec/same price or higher spec/higher price than liebherr stock but liebherr are better VFM!

Thanks for your advice everyone. Was looking at Siemens and Liebherr. But also noticed that SMEG do tall stainless steel fridges and freezers. Similar price bracket. Any views? 😕

Liebherr are the best, Siemens a good second. Smeg tend to be overpriced and not made to the same standard as the other two.

AEG = Zanussi/Electrolux not in the same class as Siemens and Liebherr.
